Birds and Mushrooms

Wow - I had so much fun at the Northern Lakes Arts Association sale this weekend! I sold a ton of purses, zippered pouches and notebooks, but I was especially pleased with the response I got for my rose pins and these bird ornaments:
I have been making a ton of these birds because I love them, but as the sale approached I started to feel very insecure about them. By Saturday morning I was sure no one would buy them, but they ended up being my biggest seller.

This was my first big sale since I started working at the library about a year and a half ago. It was wonderful to be back out there with skrapyram - I have really missed it. I am hoping that I will be able to keep it up now that we have moved to Bog Ridge and my library job is not so new.

One of the best parts of being involved in the NLAA events is the quality of work offered by the other participants. Many of my old favorites were there this time, including Heidi May Niska with her photography

Dafne Caruso with her jewelry

and Anna Shallman with her bead work

There were also some fun new booths, like those put together by Sharee Johnson and Velvet Williams. I mean, I don't see how anyone is going to be able to resist Velvet's mushroom art:

All in all, this sale was a great experience for me and I'm really looking forward to the NLAA sale in February. Next up, though, I'll be one of the "hallway artists" at the NLAA holiday concert next Saturday, December 11th. Yippee!

Those knitted birds are wonderful! My bathroom has a nature/bird theme. I can just see them sitting in there keeping the other ones company.
